It sounds like it could be. We have 2011 Fiesta that had similar symptoms. We would get the transmission service required and it would go into limp mode. I was able to reset the code and it would run fine for a few days before it would happen again. Brought to ford and they threw in a new TCM under their special 10 year warranty.
